  • If you have a dandruff problem, you will have just flakes in your hair. But if you experience an inflamed condition of scalp then it’s best to see a doctor. It might be a case of seborrhea and seborrheic dermatitis, which can be pretty serious.
  • Seborrhea is a disorder of the sebaceous glands that can appear in two ways; either the glands produce too much oil, resulting in a very greasy scalp, or too little oil, resulting in a dry, itchy scalp. Although it is more serious than dandruff, simple seborrhea is more annoying than dangerous.
  • Seborrheic dermatitis is a severe from of seborrhea which can, in extreme cases, lead to hair loss.
  • Psoriasis is among the most serious of the common scalp diseases. It is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by the development of reddish patches on the scalp, covered with large, dry scales which, when removed, leave the underlying tissue exposed and sometimes bleeding.
  • Ringworm is a fungal infection that leads to circular patches of hair loss. This infection is contagious and can be contracted from human beings and animals. It can be easily treated with an antibiotic, but one should consult a doctor first.
  • Dermatitis is a scalp disorder characterized by a reddish inflammation with damp, sometimes oozing scales. It requires urgent attention from a doctor.
  • So if you are experiencing any of these symptoms, be sure to visit a doctor.
