Hair Tangles & Snarls
Why Do I Get Tangles And Snarls?
Tangles will invariably happen when your hair is in a bad condition. In fact, the worse the condition, the worse the snarls which are a result of injured cuticles. Cuticles can be damaged by the wrong shampoo, by harsh, improper washing, vigorous towel drying, or excessive blow-drying. Bleaching, tinting, perming and back-combing can also lead to tangles. Fine hair tangles much more easily than coarse hair does because people with fine hair have many more individual hairs, and the hair cells are smaller and more numerous.
How To Avoid Tangles And Snarls
- Shampoo your hair gently, but don’t massage or rub your hands over your scalp.
- Rinse it well.
- Then apply conditioner and leave it on for 5-10 minutes, giving it time to work on the snarls.
- Then, with the conditioner still on, gently comb your hair - a little at a time - starting from the ends and going on to the roots.
- Remember to use a wide-toothed comb.
- Never force a knot. By doing so, you will simply break your hair or damage it.
- Lastly, rinse your hair thoroughly and comb it again. If you use a good shampoo with an effective conditioner, you will realize that it’s very easy to deal with knots and tangles.
