Hair loss causes
For hormonal and genetic reasons, some people lose an unusual amount of hair, sometimes starting when they are very young. The growth period of the hair is restricted and becomes shorter as the years go by, using up the person’s hair reserves.
The exact cause of hair loss is not known. It could be due to any or all of these:
- The use of drugs like Cortizone or contraceptive pills.
- Chemotherapy
Exposure to radiation through X-rays - Menopause and basically anything that interferes with your hormones.
- Emotional disorders like anxiety, stress and lack of sleep.
- A protracted illness could also take its toll on the health of your hair.
Braids, Ponies And Hair Loss
Yes, certain hairstyles like braids and pony tails that pull your hair tightly away from your scalp can also lead to hair loss. It is better to tie your hair loosely. You should also keep changing your parting and your hairstyle as often as you can.
Hair loss or Hair Fall?
Yes, there is indeed a difference between the two! Generally, hair that is falling out will have a little whitish bulb on the end, while broken hair will not have this bulb. However, the white bulb that you see is not the hair’s root. The root, or papilla, is the true growing point of your hair. You cannot lose that. The whitish bulb is a part of the hair nearest to the root, plus some shed scalp skin, or hair follicle lining.
